FAQs

Q:

What is REACH Homeschool Co-op?

A:

REACH Homeschool Co-op is a Christ-centered organization with the goal of broadening our children’s education by providing quality learning opportunities in a Christian environment. Our committed parents contribute their knowledge and expertise to provide extracurricular and academic classes that enrich the lives of the children in our co-op.

Q:

Who can join REACH?

A:

Christian homeschooling families who agree with our statement of faith and are willing to make a year-long teaching commitment are welcome to apply.

We do require that applicants have at least one school-aged child (turning 5 before 9/1 of the upcoming school year).

Famillies interested in joining are asked to spend a day at REACH before applying. Please contact us in January to schedule a visit for the upcoming school year.

Q:

When and where does REACH meet?

A:

We meet on Fridays from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. We meet for 14 weeks in the fall and for 14 weeks in the spring.

We are located in Plano, Texas.

Q:

What is the teaching requirement for parents?

A:

One parent from each family is required to teach a minimum of two semesters. This requirement can be met a number of different ways. A parent may teach one, year-long class or two, one-semester classes. A parent may teach their own children's age, or they may choose to teach in a different area. We try our best to align parents' interests and skills with classes that they might be asked to teach.

Parents are never on their own when generating lesson plans for classes. Our leadership team has two grade-level coordinators that assist parents in choosing curriculum and creating lesson plans for REACH classes.

Q:

What age groups are served by REACH?

A:

REACH serves children from birth through 12th grade. We have a nursery and a 3-year preschool program to serve our youngest members. We break students into the following learning groups:

  • Kindergarten - 2nd
  • 3rd - 5th
  • 6th - 8th
  • 9th - 12th

In order to apply, applicants must have at least one school-aged child (turning 5 by 9/1 of the upcoming school year).

Q:

How much does it cost to join REACH?

A:

We have a new member application fee of $200, which is non-refundable upon acceptance to the co-op. This is an annual membership fee, paid yearly per family upon registration. Each class has a one-time fee that covers materials and supplies for that class. Class fees are listed in the course description.
